Perhaps Panasonic Fx3 or Lz series.
Fuji A series (think 600 or 700).
Think Canon A series like A530 or A540 too.

I'm also currently looking for one under $400. Only looking at Panasonic and Nikon camera. Fuji seem ok but they using xD card, so i'll give it a miss. Got bad encounter with Canon so i'll pass them as well. Anyone got any good recommendation for Pana n Nikon one ?

I'm using Nikon P4 and Panasonic LX2.. However, both are not under $400. I think it's hard to go wrong with either brand.
