Recommend a Marco Lens for newbie

Interested to try shooting marco. Can recommend a marco lens for newbie. I'm currently using canon 400D. Can consider Canon or any 3rd party brand. As I'm new to marco prefer something around $500 or cheaper to play around first. TK.

tokina macro 100mm or 105mm not too bad
Tamron 90mm I feel is good
best is Canon 100mm? but budget out for you.

Get Tamron, Sigma or Tokina. Its the eye thats most important. The prices are pretty much about the same. Save a little like 60 bucks more for a brand new Tamron 90mm at 570 if you can. Otherwise, go for the tokina or sigma slightly cheaper. But as I say, pictures count more then lens =)

Tamron 90mm or Sigma 105mm. There are also some zoom lenses out there with Macro function that you can try.

or if you don't need to go 1:1
then a sigma 70-300 macro is fine, maybe add a close-up filtre

used tamron 90mm f2.8 before...:thumbsup: for macro, even :thumbsup: candid & potrait. sharp:thumbsup: use to be my walkabout lens too:bsmilie:
but AF abit slow & hunt sometime. still aceptable for me lah. value for money lens:bsmilie: i guess.....
