for lens like 38-76mm, what can it be used for?

if i wanna take macro shots ( for eg like insects..), what type of lens shd i go for? budget constraint though.

If you want to take macro shots, you need a macro lens. If on a tight budget, a macro converter like Raynox, or close up filters will be the way to go.

which is to reverse your lens ~
correct me if i am wrong, coz i heard this from somewhere before, but hasnt try it ~

Reverse your 50/1.8. Make sure it is older lens with aperture ring. It is easier done if you buy a reverse lens mount adapter.

Or your can reverse mount the 50/1.8 to a macro lens to go super close, to get super magnification.

Downside? clean freaks will die here, coz you are exposing rear element to open air (aka dust).

38-76mm?? - tats a mid range zoom lens.. it can be used for anything if u know hw to use it.
tats said, its neither wide or mid tele.. i will forsake it and look elsewhere..

For macro, u shd get a dedicated macro lens that render 1:1 life size images (reproduction ratio), if nt like DD123 suggested, get a close up filter in the likes of Raynox..

There's other alternatives as well in extension tubes, reverse lens etc..

There is more than one macro lens. Please specify focal length at least. Best to read up before you even ask about prices.
