[Query] Precision of digital hydrometer of Digi-Cabi

Hi,

I just bought a AD-40. The salesperson mentioned that lower than 25% cannot be detected and the cabinets on sale had been mass-calibrated.

Tested out the possible humditiy range, which is from approx. 25-73%. Can I trust the precision or should I get individual hydrometer to test?

Any comments?

Best is to get both, so if one fails or cocks up, you still have the other one.

I noticed that the Digi Cabi and my independent Hygrometer varies anything from 1-3%.

Many of the these digi-cabi digital hygrometers are removable. So if you have friends who have them, you can borrow from them just to confirm if your's is accurate. If KS, borrow a number of them and hopefully the average reading is the correct one???

Anyway, you should not need lower than 25% if you are storing camera equipment. Set your cabinet too dry and your equipment might have problems (lubricant dry up, leather or plastic crack etc etc).
