Query on warranty

I've got a friend who has purchase a D40 from a shop in orchard road, however, the warranty card and manual is in Japanese without stating its a worldwide service warranty. The kit lens however comes with a Nikon Worldwide Service Warranty but also in Japanese, questions:

- no local warranty for the camera body?
- is this consider a grey set?
- if camera break down, will Nikon service the body?

- check to see if there is a shop warranty on the receipt.
- yes this should be a grey set
- yes, but Nikon service centre will service the body for a fee.
