Qn on TCs

I was wondering, does a Teleconverter crop the image (ie makes the image bigger on the sensor itself such that only the middle portion of the overall image is used) or does it change the angle of view (ie change the focal length) ?

So would a 100mm lens + 2x TC have the same view as a 200mm lens or a 100mm lens cropped? ;p

I thought the crop description seems more accurate. But it does give the "same view" as using a 200mm lens..
