i think its time the people really start rising up to this. The reason why ppl all NATO in Singapore is because of the fear factor and scare tatic the gament uses to deter an uprise.
People are scared to being arrested. But what they fail to realise is.. the longer this brew the worse it'll become. till one day we might just relive our rioting days.. :thumbsd: :thumbsd: :thumbsd:

Inflation baby. Don't worry your pay will go up so purchasing power remains somewhat the same over time, if not better. I can't buy bowls of noodles for 5 cents like some of you guys could in your youth you know :)

The garment knows singaporeans well... NATO. no action talk only. When public transport fare increase, most ppl blah their way in parliament and in ST forums. Then slowly the heat dies down and shift target. Next is casino... talk talk and more talks. Next comes minister pay... debate here and there in parliament and ppl write in to forum. Then again, ppl suddenly drop this topic and now move to... ENTRY INTO UNIVERSITY!!

Even tho we complain these and that, ultimately garment's words will still be law. Say will have open discussion. Discuss and discuss, talk and talk, debate and debate... At the end:
-Casino is up
-Price of transport still increase
-Minister pay still increase
-GST still increase

Is there a time when the public voice out or debate, the garment will change their mind?? Name one.

The garment very smart..noes Singaporean weakness. Talk and talk and will soon sure forget the topic and move on to the next topic. Have you realise that???:bsmilie:

Do we really got any choice? Go and strike? PLs do remember that most of us living in HDB. Under the infamous Mr 'Ma'.... Later got no roof over our head.
Anyway... Tat Singapore... garment say wat we will follow... So wWhen is the next election...

What does the timing of the next election matter? The opposition parties are bollocks. They *may* promise lower taxes, but at the cost of what?

nah...i dont think the next election helps either. singaporeans are singaporeans. approaching elections time in 4 - 5yrs time, garment ppl will

1) SUDDENLY APPEAR at various kopi tiam, appear to be Mr Nice Guy
2) giving out progress package, hongbao special package, offset package
3) emphasize ALOT on upgrading
4) address abt the need to have medical aids for the elderly
5) WOWOW
6) WEEEE
7) HUUUUU
8) AHHHH

then 4 - 5yrs ago incident like rising of prices, GST, casino... singaporeans forget liao. All these promises jus b4 election brainwash ppl liao. As i say, singaporeans usually NATO and forget liao. Dont noe when singaporeans will realise such tactics garment is playing w us:(

Singaporeans vote for upgrading packages mah, like MUP, covered walkways, lifts that stop on every floor, etc. Freedom of speech, gov accountability, human rights simi lai eh?? Can eat one boh? If it doesn't enhance the value of their flats $ingaporeans dunch wan.

Wow, I'm impressed by this bunch, no one mention anything about alcohol...:bsmilie: Only milk and coffee ;) Either you all don't drink alcohol, or just don't care about paying more for your vices...hehe

I think we are to be blamed for electing our government, so next round we know better what to do. Either that or direct your complaints and observation to the opposition, who has a voice, be it quiet one or not. When such things get voiced out publicly, it affects the people's emotion, who then have the voice that garmen will have to pay attention to.

If the complain is that GST is high, it won't hold water, as the garmen will only give you more example of other places with higher GST, eg USA 8%, UK 18% etc.... So if anybody has any contacts or way of justifying government over-spending, that would be a good spot to start digging...IMHO.

We see day in day out of garmen policies that fail, but we just live with it, typical singaporean>> Bo Dar, Bo Chee. (no balls) Give you an example, COE was "designed" to curb traffic density>>FAILED, now its a money spinner for garmen. Now they have to put up more gantries, I think next time, the gantry will just be infront of your carpark.

Whenever there are changes in monetary policies, you can be sure, many "smart arses" will be burning the midnight oil, thinking of ways to take advantage of people.

hey, we're not cows being sent for slaughter lo.

we're not stupid either. watch Ocean 13, learn some tricks arh...

wat to do.... protest here is useless.... no point lah... tks to who for the increase i know....

i will be very careful with this statement, who knows that the gov is watching this thread.

Wa lao, exactly enforcing my point, scare this scare that :D

I feel the problem with Singaporeans (me included) is shallow knowledge, poor showmanship and complacency, so when we speak something, its always with fear of repercussions. I think what's being discussed here should be for self evaluation, and not to stir up any unnecessary troubles (everybody say Amen) ;)

End of the day, we leave this society into the hands of our descendants, so they will suffer and curse at our graves one day lor... ;) In nutshell, we stifle our free voice, and free voice is needed to check evil>> "All it takes for evil to flourish , is for the good to do nothing"

It is indeed a sad state of affairs... but then spore is our country, going overseas bcos of 2% gst is a bit dramatic right?

the only true solution is to make more money.. but then have to pay more tax and make garment richer.. :) Or better still, become a civil servant... your money is used to pay yourself. hahaha

Sorry, the word foreign and elite are separate, if I may say so  i work in a place where expats are abound...and all too often I see the skin color only, completely incompetent inside.

We need foreignt talents, yes I do agree, but not at the expense of the locals well beings and opportunities.
