She is the central focal point for all those who like to share with others about their hobby: The special surface photokina communities in hall 9. True to the motto "Photography is then most beautiful when you can share the pictures with someone" the photokina leads at this special area both, real as well as virtual communities together. Under the roof of photokina communities social networks, photo festivals, associations as well as publishers will present themselves to the photokina visitors and offer them a meeting point that presents a variety of some highlights on and around the main stage.

Among the topics to be discussed at the surface, the networking of devices among themselves and with the internet, apps, social media as well as the latest Camera generations in the section of outdoor and action cams are included. The latter can be tested in a spectacular action zone in front of hall 9 on the Sky shooter, directly from the aqua zorbing or bull riding. "DIY@photokina" combines the themes of photography, Do-it-yourself and communities on varied ways through workshops, hand-on-activities and refreshing DIY ideas by and for creative bloggers. Photo tips for blog and shop are given also once a day by the 'Fun-on-Photo'-maker and professional Joachim Rieger.

Social Media live can be found at the offices of the photokina social media crew right next to the stage. Here enthusiasts can have a look over the shoulder of the social media editors and can watch their reporting's about the photokina on all social media channels live. In the adjacent blogger-zone, bloggers can charge their mobile devices using the free WiFi and blogging their impressions of the photokina live. During the fair, interesting guests from the industry will be guests and available to answer the bloggers questions again and again. In a Selfie-Contest, in cooperation with Fujifilm, one can take, with a little luck, an instax camera home. Under the title "XING meets photokina" a network evening for members of the photokina Xing-group completes the offer.

With »Butterfly« by the photographer Jan Michael Hosan (in front of the entrance south) and - together with GEO - the exhibition 'Pandas: The unusual way back' (in front of the entrance north) two impressive outdoor presentations are included.
