I see sensor dust... and your composition too far... :sweatsm:

But the lighting is good :sticktong

Try the zoom lens EF 28-105mm IS USM or EF 28-105 USM which is also good for half & full body portait.

Thanks.:)

If you dont mind you can consider to get Sigma or Tamron. They've got good lens for portrait shots. Sigma 24-70 f2.8 or the Tamron 28-75 f2.8. Fixed aperature is so tempting.:what:

sorry, newbie question.
what does BOKEH stand for?

Nonsense lah. Eh... that one in the post cannot use because it's an FD mount. As long as it's an EF mount, it can be used. Lots of us 350D users have it and love it. :)

I have one too and i love it to the max! :bsmilie:

Erm .. so anyone knows if the Nikon 50mm 1.8 is also 5-blade? Does it compare well to the Canon one?

Cos I'm deciding between Canon and Nikon for portrait taking.

Not sure abt this, maybe you can check the specs from Nikon's website or other review websites?

The one in the post is an FL mount. The FD can be used but only with an EF adaptor...

Depends on whether you want sharp portraits or soft portraits. Canon lenses are known to be softer than Nikon. But with a slightly lower contrast, skin tones are usually not that harsh on a Canon, so it is more forgiving to lighting conditions than Nikon.

occupation hazard, see product shots must comment.. :bsmilie:

i have the 28-70/2.8 and 100/2.8 also tried the 105/2.8 but bokeh i get still doesn't cut for me. I need a lot of subject to bg distance to get smooth bokeh. Still waiting to hands on a 85/1.8.

hehehee... his bokeh also sucks... :bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

All comments posted here so far about the posted 50mm f/1.8 that it is a FD is total nonsense. Apparently, you guys didn't study the picture.

Tell me, if the lens is a FD Canon lens, then why does it have a distance limiter and a AF/M switch at the bottom?

Lastly, for this lens, there are 3 versions. The first being the FD mount, the second and third ones being EF mount. This is the second version of the 50mm lens.

Bokeh (japanese: bo-ke) is a photographic term describing the subjective aesthetic qualities of out-of-focus areas in an image produced by a camera lens. For example, causing an out-of-focus background image may reduce distractions and emphasize the primary subject. (taken from wikipedia.org) ;p

blur background for short.. correct me if i'm wrong..

what about canon EF 100mm f/2.8 macro lens? can it produce potrait with good bokeh although it's a macro lens?
