Hi all... i am shooting portraits using 7D. I have only budget of 1.4K not more.
From the quoatation i can only choose the following lense... only 1 of them. C 85L out of my way.

From wad i had sourced sigma 85mm cos 1.4K at Tk
while C 135mm cos about 1.3K at MS

I know that sigma is a relative new lens...

Just need some help from bros here to decide if you got 1.4K and less... only 1 prime which should be a your choice?

it depends on your own shooting preference.

rem the crop factor here. 135mm might be too long for you on a crop body.

thks... tt wad i tot so... was itching to get the sigma...

both are strong contenders, personally i prefer to 85 f1.4 for the better background blur capability.

I think there are quite a few who used the sigma one here for less than a week and decide to sell it off already. Does it indicate something?

I will go with the 135L. If range is too long for you, may want to consider the 100mm f2.0 also. This is also an excellent choice, at half the price only.

Taking Sigma 85mm 1.4 is a big risk for me. 135mm F2 is definitely better choice. Consider 85mm 1.4

Maybe u should try this lens first. It as good as canon lens fast and sharp and not the same as Sigma 50 f1.4 HSM which many ppl comment.
Why i say this becos i own it...i'm happy with the result, nice bokeh and sharp.

Thanks for sharing. Excellent lens when it's in good hands. That's the way to go, show the photos when one says the lens is good.

wah... It seem like the sigma 85mm need to buy q a few copies for those guys cos... majority of them has focusing issues?

think i still cant rent tt len to try out yet... nice pictures it produced.

If sharpness and focusing plays a huge part of your shooting, definitely go get the Canon version. Personally, I would pick the 85mm over 135mm for portraits.

the same framing on a subject, 135L will produce more blur...

theres nothing wring with Sigma 85 1.4. but Im one of those who want to sell it & replace it 85L for bragging rights only...

if you havnt used that lens yet, dont judge that its not sharp...

depends what focal length you prefer.
Sigma 85 1.4 is definitely superior to the Canon 85 1.8, no question. Quality of bokeh and sharpness is better. Someone in the Sigma thread has compared both.
In fact the Sigma comes pretty close to the new AF-S 85/1.4G nikon. That says a lot about this lens.
On Crop 135 f/2 would be a bit too long IMHO.
I would go for the Sigma. Any problem (front/back focus), just bring it down to SSC to calibrate, FOC :).

I prefer my Zeiss 85f1.4 anytime, but from what I have seen so far, the Sigma 85f1.4 is pretty good. I owned the Canon 85f1.8 for a month and sold it. The 85f1.2L is too expensive so, can't afford.

i will go w/ EF 85f1.8 (hahahaha, there's no option with this one ,ha???) or maybe EF100f2... and u can go to sands casino using ur 900, hahaha, just kidding :D
i think 135L is too long for 7D....
