This is my first post here so Hi to everyone. I'm about to buy my first camera pretty soon and have shortlisted the following models (please see the accompanying pages). I'm in India and hence have attached the Indian links for the respective cameras.

1. Sony W350 (http://www.sony.co.in/product/dsc-w350)

2. Samsung PL150 (http://www.samsung.com/in/consumer/c...ies&returnurl=)

3. Samsung PL200 (http://www.samsung.com/in/consumer/c...ies&returnurl=)

Now I'm confused about which one should I get? I'm leaning toward the Samsungs bcoz of the 7X optical zoom and dual lcds they provide, along with HD recording.

I would like to have your opinion on this (especially from those who use/have used these cameras). I'm really good with cellphone cameras but this is the first time I'm getting a proper digital cam, and I would really appreciate your helpful inputs. Please note that good video recording is also important along with stills.

Thanks in advance!!

any one would do. there isnt a significant difference between compacts that are released close nowadays...

Thanks allenleonhart. But if I gotta choose between the PL200 and the Sony w350, which one should I go for?

Once in a while, you have got to make up your mind on your own.

While I fully and 100% agree with this... In this case I must advise to get the Sony. Most people that I know who bought a Samsung reported it basically failing and falling apart easily. Plus, the picture quality was not as good as the competition.

If TS die-die need to choose between sony and samsung, my take is go for sony. If you still cannot decide, toss a coin.

After looking through the specs and sample pictures from the mentioned cameras, personally, I would think Sony W350 is a better choice. The fact that Sony uses Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens means half the battle won. :bsmilie:

True. I guess that's what I need to do.

Thanks all for your inputs. I think I'll just check out both the cameras and then decide which one suits me more. Would be making my purchase in a few days, will report back what I got.
