About the Talk
Travel and photography go hand in hand. Armed with only a camera and the desire to experience the unknown, travelers capture some of their most memorable travel experiences on film. In time to come, these photographs, like those featured in this exhibition, may even become an important anthropological tool that offers a glimpse to the past, preserving forever the faces and places that no longer exist.
In this lecture, Kay Chin will share his personal thoughts on photography and how it holds the key to memories. He will also make a special presentation on the New York that he knows.
About the Speaker
Tay Kay Chin was trained as a photojournalist at the University of Missouri-Columbia, USA. Upon graduation, he joined The Straits Times as a photographer before becoming its Picture Editor in 1999. He left the paper soon after to freelance and to live for six months in New York City. Before returning to Singapore, he was the Presentation Editor of The Sun newspaper in Bremerton, Washington. For his series on Panoramic Singapore, Hasselbad of Sweden selected him as one of the 12 masters of photography for 2003.
