Hi!

I wonder if anyone heard about this brand:
http://www.photoclam.com/
http://www.tripodballhead.com/

Supposed to be high end ball heads, just like Kangrinpoche and similar.

I've never seen them in Singapore, but I'm going to Shanghai next month, does anyone know if they have a China distributor?

I might get one, if they are cheaper than KRP.
Or can you suggest any other Asian brand in the similar range?

Never try before.....can't comment much, but OP is selling them, you might want to try out there.

They've issues with quality control. Comparing the Markins Q3 & the similar range Photoclam, Photoclam really can't hold much (though they claim to hold 30 kg)

Guess we get what we pay for.

Discovered that GIN Studios at Rochor carries Photo Clam. I bought their PC-33NS yesterday and the quality is comparable to Markins. I have the Q10 Markins and know what a good ball head is and how it is supposed to perform. Used many brands over the years and now swear by Markins for its great value and quality.

I tested the head for some hours before deciding and was well satisfied - and I know how to test them right before buying. That includes slip and creep testing (overloading, overextending the lens and camera as far as possible to see how the ball head performs with extension of lenses etc), max loading and real life use testing of the tension and friction buttons.

It will soon be out in retail stores locally as Gin is the local distributor. For the price v. quality, forget the Chinese equivalents and get the Korean quality.

Its QQ vs. Hyundai type of quality comparison.

just to add, saw it at SLR revolution today..

Have not used their ballheads but I ordered the Multiflex gearhead directly from Korea at almost half the cost of an Arca Swiss C1 Cube. Still costs around $1,700 though. Been using it for a few months and this thing is as solid as it can get. No slacks that I can detect and the gears stay locked at any position. Its really an indispensible tool if you need precise and accurate movement. It will take standard Arca Swiss plates and has proven to be an economical alternative to the C1 cube.

chickenriceboy is Markin's distributor in Malaysia, what a shame that he posted such biased comment to bad name Photo Clam... :thumbsd:
