Philosophy in Photography

What is your Philosophy in Photography?

A potentially contentious topic, no doubt. But i reckon since there should be no right or wrong answers (there might not even be good or bad answers), hopefully no flamewar will erupt here.

Is there one? Do you have one? Should you have one? Should there be one?

Is there a difference between why you take a photo, when you take a photo and how you take a photo? (How you decide to press that shutter)

why : chemistry ...

when : "must take !! must take !!" action ...

how : specific details of the object to focus on

For me, its an no brainer choice. My course of study requires me to document and present as part of my research for every project. They can be anything, a house, a landscape, a streetscape, urban, rural, construction, wide angle shots, close up construction details, etc.

As you can see, I started off with photography as part of my work. I was never interested in anything else except documenting what is needed for work.

As time goes by, I started picking up things I would have never seen or pay attention to while walking on the streets, out in the ranges, etc. That's how photography as a hobby got started. My objective is still the same, to document but now, not only for work. I now document whatever interests me in the mindset that I might not see them or they might disappear in future.

It is not too late to adopt a sound philosophy

We can only enjoy photography when
we have a focus. I will never forget this quote:

"Give a man a fire,
and he will be warm for a day.
Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm
for the rest of his life".

We are created so that we can lead
a joyous life. The path you choose is
an individual decision. The choice of one's
philosophy depends on what you want to
give or take in your lifetime.

Parry Aftab mentioned:

My true love is the fact that when you're
online, you're judged by the quality
of your ideas, not your appearance.

Perhaps this can also mean the philosophy
you adopt.

God made woman to help man.
The expression means that
woman is able to collaborate with
man because she is his perfect
counterpart...in perfect equality.

Can we argue this in today's
space of life, so often shown in
greed, discontentment and non
blesssedness among fellow
human beings?
