so far...what i see main advantages for practical usage,

Vertical Battery Grip D-BG4, Weather-Sealed and Cold-Resistant, Support Either Another D-LI90 or Six AA Batteries, Provision of Extra Shutter-Release Button, Preview Lever, e-Dials, AE-Lock, Green Button and AF Button

Continuous (Lo):-
JPEG: 3.3 FPS: No Limitation, until Card Full;

1/8000th second Top Speed

Built-in AF Assist Light:
Yes

*In red is what should have been in the K20D...i wonder if ever found out which genius at Pentax said Assist Lamp not needed for K20D because for work, bloody useful. I wonder if the number of shots left will be very obvious in other modes.

Anyway unless the price is very competitive, going to be tough especially if they going to use video as selling point.
Supported Video Modes: 1280 x 720 Pixels (16:9 Standard High Definition), 640 x 416 (3:1.95), 1536 x 1024 (3:2), All Modes at 30 Frames Per Seconds.....so is it 720i or 720p? i would have thought by now should be 1080p.

Kelvint81 - If you're buying K20, wait for the glut of used K20D bodies for cheap :)

(Not including mine. I'm not buying a K7. *chants*)

not many K20D users will "upgrade" or i dun even see it as a upgrade anyway... AF confirm improved, but still not there yet....less than a yr and K30D might be out...

K100D/K200D users might consider...

considering bro.
dunno to let go my A200 anot
:bsmilie:

nice, looks like pentax also did listen to feedback from its users and incorporated it into the development of the K-7.

for example, the addition of a focus assist lamp, addition of AF button to the grip, etc. i also infer from one of the pictures that the remote control can be set to start and stop a bulb exposure (no need to point and hold).

not interested though!

Is the AF adjustment feature still there?

Sigh.

to be perfectly honest, we can't say whether we're interested or not until we know the following:

1. Image quality/High ISO performance improvements (especially if not limited to better noise smoothing for JPG)

2. AF speed/accuracy increase

3. Price.

Of course, it's not as if anyone -needs- more camera than they have already, assuming they have a fairly recent dslr.

(This doesn't apply to you, kelvint81. buy buy buy! lol)

yes, no reason for them to ditch it

Pentax DSLR中首次出现的独立AF辅助照明灯是不少用户期待的功能,这个功能也可以通过菜单关掉,以免在不想打 扰被摄者的时候发出可怕的绿色光束

green AF beam?

Yes, kinda stupid, but yes, it's green :(

I have seen green AF beam from digicams, I remember my bro's Canon S5 IS have a green AF beam.

I definitely don't need it, I admit. in fact, I feel my K100D, an 'old' model as it is, is too much camera for me. There're functions, like exposure compensation, which I haven't really gone into yet.

And when I look at my photos now, I doubt having a newer camera will make me a better photographer. My photos will still be as lousy as before, just that they may show more detail :P

So I don't need the k-7. But I WANT the k-7. And that's the difference. Perhaps that's also the case for most of the upgraders! Haha!

(Would have sprang for the now reasonably priced K20 if not for the size..)

Yes, kinda stupid, but yes, it's green :(

Normally, it's white on other brands?

that's a good looking camera body  looks like the handling will be good too. well done pentax!

wonder what that black lump above the lens release button (10 o clock position facing the lens mount) is for.

Well, if you want it and it's an affordable discretionary purchase... why wait? :D

Just waiting for the first set of pics samples to appear online... the specs din bring much excitment to me... but i kinda like how this camera will sound in Chinese... 宾得 K-7 号... sounds like some cartoon robot i watch as a kid...:bsmilie:
