Hi all,

I was wondering if a fish-eye/wide angle lens is vital for taking panoramic shots? Say for example i want to create a VR tour of a temple, is it possible that the normal lens of a digital camera and a photo stitch program is sufficient?

Thank you all for your comments.

I think using photostich is better, fisheye lens distortion is too great for this kind of shot.

miumiu, you can use any lens you want to take a stitched panorama photo. However, if you use a wider angle lens or a fisheye lens, you will need less shots to stitch a 360 degree panorama. A wider angle also allows you to see more of the top and bottom of the picture ... otherwise your panorama will be very long and narrow. The stitching program used is more important than the lens used.
