for similar competitors, the two other cameras you should take a look at would be the fuji F30 and the canon IS800.

Get the FUJI. The noise level of FX07 is unacceptable during indoor shots. Plus the flash is extremely weak and next to useless. I have a Sony DSC-H1 and wanted a small camera. I thought Panasonic built good cameras but was I wrong. How could a camera with 7 megapixels produce so much noise (and I am talking about a room that has plenty of lighting already). Just a complete bust of nice design.
