hi all

just wondering if there is a repair shop specially for Nikon?

i brought my f2a to P&G for repairs on the exposure metering, but even after they replaced the pcb a, it is still not working correctly.

i've brought it back to them twice, but they still did not rectify the problem.

thanks.

There's one that I know of, its called the Nikon Service Center ;)

i'll check it out, but i doubt they do carry parts for f2a.

Think the camera is over 10 yrs old? If so, unlikely they still have parts, but can try them :)

called them, but they just told me that it is a discontinued model, and they do not repair it.

any guys out there who have come across a reliable Nikon repair shop that you can recommend?

Nikon F2 sees the light in 1970 after the first highly successful Professional Nikon F model. It was only discontinued shortly after Nikon F3 was launched in 1980.
To my knowledge with Nikon, they does not service anything that was discontinued after 7-10 years coz the cost of keeping, maintain and producing out-dated parts are high and non-profitable for the company.
My suggestion is that maybe you can get a used F2's metered prism in working order and maybe it is much cheaper to have it repaired. Or other way round is, use a hand-held meter.

Dun think so Nikon Service Centre can repair F2A, they cant even repair my FA ... due to part obsoleted. :(

I believe that there are people still able to repair Nikon F2 coz it is a mech camera. For FA, it is mostly electronics so I afraid once the camera obsoleted then it is hard to fix (they won't manufacture a IC just for your obsoleted camera rite?).
Maybe you can try TCW to see if they are able to fix your F2.
Best of luck!

can also try Ron's camera at adlephi basement. he fixed my friend's fm2. but it mainly depends whether he got the parts or not lor.

it's ok... will ask around at the shops from sunshine plaza to adelphi... don't want to be taken for a ride again... pay $200 odd for reconditioning and repairs and still not work. :(

haiz...

in this time and age when high tech, state of the art electronics becomes more commonplace, it makes it even more painful when something becomes EOL.

things were simpler before, when it was mechanical, you still have a shot at getting it fixed somewhere...
