F3HP was used by the professionals and have many features which the FM3a do not have. The F3HP is heavy and the FM3a is lighter. I will choose the F3HP for my shoot and keep the FM3a as a backup.:)

Thanks! for all the good info........I will looking 1 for play play........:)

:p

"best" depends on your shooting style...

i chose the FM3a. better flash capability (F3 has 1/80 sync and non-ISO hotshoe on the rewind knob), and different viewfinder design (F3 has 100% view, but i prefer the FM3a needle). it's also less bulky.

Which is better depends on what you need.

The FM3a is better if you need a manual/mechanical camera vs. an automatic/electronic camera. It is also better if you need a new camera vs. a pre-owned camera.

For me, the F3 was better because I needed an interchangeable viewfinder, true mirror lock-up, and 100% viewfinder accuracy.

I agree. Given the choice between the F3HP, the FM3a, and the F4, I too would choose the F4. It handles manual and auto focus lenses, provides matrix metering with AI and auto focus lenses, and has a built-in motor drive. With the drop in film camera prices, it is possible to find one in excellent condition for less than a new FM3a.

F3 is a true classic in Nikon camera range.

The accessories is simply enormous and back in the 80's,

F3 is definately the one to go for.
