10 or 15 yrs ago ppl seems to avoid products made in japan giving favour to made in usa or uk or whatever but today ppl are looking up to products made in japan, does it really matters where a product is being made in? imho for any major brands their products will have a certain standard( usually high) to keep their brand ahead from the others, so no matter where the product is made in the standard will still be there, so why bother so much bout where its made in:dunno: as long as it does what u expect it to do then just be happy with it......just my 2cents:D

That's why got ISO standards, the word standard, says it all.

And oh yeah, don't forget, Murphy's Law too :D

And my personal favourite - Sh!t happens.

QC is a subjective term. Sometimes like the D70 Failures, the problem cannot
be detected until weeks later. Equipment used in Thailand for manufacturing
could also not be up to spec with the strict equipment standards of Japan.
If you are off by a few half degrees of heat, the join may be brittle and break.

The people working there could also not be on par.. For example a company
found out why that in Singapore they could produce 100,000 units a day.
but when they brought the entire production line to another country, the
yield was less than 400 pieces. The culprit was found tobe the hygiene standard
of the people, sneezing directly onto the silicon wafers..

Things take time to mature.. I had failures in my D70, D2hS - and now they seem
to getting their act together.

We all have to live with built in Thailand or China. I recently bought some
top of the line Harddisks, 'Made in Singapore' its suppose to have automatic
bad sector prevention. It completely died in 4 days..

Many parts come from many countries now.. Most things are ASSEMBLED in
a certain country now. If only 1 part screws up.. and it takes time to screw up
no amount of QC will work at all.

I fully agreed to what u said, of coz I would be more than willing to buy products that are not made in developing countries. of coz the major issue here is the price.
take example, NIKE, the only shoes manufacturer that doesn't have their own plant, but their shoes are selling well. If you step into Borneo MOTOR, tell the sale person that u want an Altis or Camry that is Japan made, you probaly won't get one. Singapore Airlines No.1 Airline in to world are sending their fleets to China for heavy maintenance, WHY ???
20 years back during our parents or even grandparents days, buying a TV, it must be able to last for 10 years, TODAY, you can get a 29" TV for as low as $299. so QUALITY & COST, two elements here, find a balance point that suit u most.
So what i am trying to say here is that there is a market trend out there that u & I just have to accept it, of coz I am not denying that there is an alternative. but usually there is a price to pay.
So the verdict is "HAPPY SHOOTING"
