Recently got a new copy of the Nikon 18-35 f3.5/4.5 to use with D700 as a all round walk about lens. What attracted me was the size and weight of this lens. Used together with the D700 is becomes a light weight package most suitable for travelling or carry light days. Lens is surprisingly sharp and easy to managed. Lens however may be hard to find as it seems to be not a common items in most shops. I got the last copy at Orient Photo but not sure if they will be bringing in more next time.
Some sample and most with a 100% crop.

I love the church pic also, but there is a dust on your sensor

Any post process? Or are they jpegs straight out of the camera?

The church one looks nice, like the mood and details it has. DR seems not bad

Church ones have some PP to adjust contrast and nothing else.
Ah yes dust has since been removed, I normally don't switch on the sensor cleaning but when tried with the in camera sensor cleaner it also does not work. :dunno:
All I need is use a blower to remove it. ;)
This is a nice lens to carry about with the D700.
A poors men 17-35 but does not break your back and bank.

are D700's sensor is dynamic range ? #9 the sky very nice & detail with exposure..

Looked like HDR or else was post-processed using layers to bring out the details in the sky without affecting the exposure level of the church in the foreground.

hehe I don't use photoshop (actually more like don't know how to use :embrass:) but I uses ACDSee for post processing. It is not HDR but some contrast adjustment stuff. Takes me like 20 secs to do it as I am not into PP but normally only adjust contrast. It does something similar to a curve in contrast adjustments. Pics with sky are all adjusted in similar ways.

the night shoot very nice with high iso, this really poison me ..

Taken handheld totally not edited.

Hi Dennis

Have you tried 18mm at f3.5 with vignetting control set to normal or off? Do you get vignetting? Please try and post the pics here if you can. Thanks!

Btw were vignetting controls turned on in all your shots shown here?

Sorry for the late reply, did not see the thread.
No vignet control was off for all the images above if I am not wrong.

Agreed. The 18-35 was the ultrawide I chose when I got my D700 as well. A light and sharp lens. Unfortunately, I think Nikon has stopped production of it.
