use photoshop.. it's not worth the money for a "fun" lens with no other purpose.

also, the effect can't be used on every single photo. It's good for taking buildings from afar and people from afar.

I think it's not just the lens also.. If you want the scaled model look, you probably have to shoot it from above... which means that you'll probably need a helicopter... not a fun lens.. ;p

Do they sell this in Singapore?

Hi Leong23,

So far I've not seen this lens selling at any of the shops here in Singapore. I cannot be certain...maybe other CSers can help to enlighten?

Thanks!

No, as of 2 months ago, the Arax lenses still aren't on sale in SG.

I have the 35mm f/2.8 Arax TS lens and I can only warn you that it's not worth its brand new asking price. The lens' construction is quite poor and so is its optical quality; Images are generally quite soft.

I got a one month old lens off an eBay seller who at first wanted US$500 for it; however, after a month of no responses, he removed his starting bid and I got it for US$200. It's currently being sold for US$649 at the Arax site. I repeat it's not worth its brand new asking price.

No helicopter necessary but you do need distance.

Think i have to start saving up to get the Nikon 85mmPC instead.

yes!! i want my pictures to look miniature.. i dunno why but i find the pictures all look very cool and i pretty much love the effect. so for nikon d40 there's onli PC Lens? isit? and wats lensbabies?

where can i find such lenses in sg? how much does it cost roughly?

You cannot achieve the toy effect using the Lensbaby. I have PC and TS lenses as well as lensbabies and I can tell you that the only way you can achieve the Toy Effect (other than through Photoshop) is to use a TS lens.

Unfortunately, Nikon only has one TS lens and it's the 85mm f/2.8 PC Macro. This monster of a lens is priced around SG$2,600 brand new but it's next to impossible to order locally. I ordered and waited 6 months for one before getting one from eBay (brand new) at SG$2,000 (grey set).

On the other hand, if you were using Canon, you'd be able the get the TS lens in 85mm, 35mm or 24mm.

There are 3 TS lenses from Canon, 24, 45 and 90.

35 and 85?

WHOOPS! :embrass:

Sorry, read the wrong line in the list comparing Nikon's and Canon's TS and PC lenses....the result of too much medication over the past couple of days and reading the laptop screen from a slouched angle

Tried the Hartblei TS and ended up selling it ... built like a tank, heavy as hell :bsmilie:

Thanks. Fever goes up and down and the medication has clouded my mind and left my mouth without taste...ha ha! :bsmilie:

I've tried my friend's Hartblei TS and it is definitely worlds apart from the Arax, much better in looks, feel and handling but still...I wish that Nikon had made their 28mm a TS rather than just a PC. I have instructions on how to take the 28mm apart to convert it to a TS but even though I've converted lots of cameras, I still don't have the heart to take apart my lens for the operation.

1 Question - So Nikon 85mm PC Macro is the only Nikon Lens that is T&S Lens?

Thanks

Yep.

Here's a sample of a "Toy" table football set :bsmilie: taken at the National Stadium many months ago:

Thanks....

Will confirm buy this lens then, not only for this effect, but for my macro shoot too.
Hope that i can get some technical help from you regarding T&S.

You'd better start with shooting at 85mm to see if it's the FoV you want. Having T&S is just one aspect. The lens was meant to shoot small 3D objects but still providing good field of focus across the entire object. To do it the other way round would require you to have a wide angle lens while still being able to tilt. A better bet is to get a cheap Canon body to use with the TS24.

If it's for macro, then the PC85 is a good buy but more for still life because it's MF, manual aperture which you'll have to manually stop down yourself before shooting. It's a very specialised lens which I personally don't have but recommended my previous company to buy because they need to shoot 3D microchips, impossible under a microscope. I used it with an extension tube. ;p

MF and Maunal Mode is not a problem, almost didn't switch on AF in my camera as i mainly do Macro. Metering i sometime use my lightmeter, so not a problem too.
Actually been thinking of getting this lens for sometime for hold back because of the price.

But with all the recent posting, the BBB virus had hit me... :sweatsm:
Will be collecting my new lens this few days, with the expense of selling off my 60mm Macro.

Hopefully this lens can provide me good DOF of my subject, as i mainly shoot insects.
