Hi All.
This afternoon I've tested Nikon D5000 with Nikkor AFS-10-24 f3.5-4.5, shooting RAW all the time. Came home, and realized that none of my image processing software can open D5000 raw file.
Can anyone inform how can I open D5000 RAW files ?
PS : amateur - noob testing result (not a professional one). I'll post the image after I am able to open D5k RAW files
1. Comes with intervalometer. Wow, even D90 does not have this. AFAIK it's only available on models above or equal to D200
2. Improvement on speaker placement, D5K's speaker is positioned on the back of cam, near LCD (D90's speaker is on the right hand side of camera, on the handgrip side, so it's covered by your palm. I think this was a mistake in design).
3. Accurate & fast 3D tracking (trickle down from D90/D300 yeah ?), 11 AF points.
4. Manual focus indication a'la D60 (rangefinder sytle using exposure scale as focus indication). How I wish this function is enabled on all Nikon models
5. Tilt screen is helpful on low angle shooting. However, upon placing it on tripod, it can only be angled 90degree from vertical position. Because the joint is blocked by tripod's QR plate.
6. Matrix metering tends to underexpose (according to my eyes & histogram. Need to have exposure fine tune / setting.
7. Video mode is similar to D90 .... 720p, as usual comes with jello effect (which other model does not ?)
8. Ergonomic : fit for small hands. A little bit too small for my hand (I am comfortable with D90, D200, D300)
9. D5k has two beep mode (one beep mode in D90)
10. Built in flash has no commander mode (as per spec)
11. No top LCD, I prefer top LCD to quickly check setting.
12. I don;t know how to remove eye cup. Wanted to change it to circular rubber eye cup.
13. Lotsa in camera RAW processing mode .....
14. Screen orientation is changed automatically upon tilting the camera vertically (a'la D60)
15. LCD screen resolution is not that great, especially if you're accustomed to 920k res LCD. A little bit more difficult to check for sharpness.
16. Nikkor 10-24, is not pixel peep'd yet. Not yet comparable. (was tested together with Tokina 12-24 f4, Nikkor 24-70 f2.8, Nikkor 50 f1.4). Certainly : wide wide wide, no vignetting (was not using filter then).
The front elemen extremely bulges, which is worrying if you're not careful. Better spend some for nice thin filter.Lens length varies from 10 mm to 24 mm, minimum lns lenght is achieved on 15mm.
