It will never end as long as film exists and ppl try to put a number of megapixels equivalent on silver hydride crystals.grantyale said:When is the MEGA Pixel race ending... isn't 6-8mp good enough? 10mp RAW is huge.

Yo, bro...Thanks for your translations...any date to launch 1Ds mk3?TMC said:Rough translation.
Rumored models:
50D - 10mps 5.5fps, could be the same AF unit as the 5D
3000D - Low end Dslr model.
Kiss D III - Lower power 50D, prob same sensor but at 3fps
1Ds MkIII - 20mp
1DV - New 1D hybrid model, featuring APS-H Crop mode sensor capable of 12mp/8fps.
Most of these are just rumors like "could it be.....?" and "hopefully...". 50D seems to be the most likely one to be out. As for the rest, will have to wait and see.
wow powerhouse....I like it...TechMage said:check this out....:bsmilie:![]()

Xing said:Yeah... the mega pixel race is tiring... I'm highly satisfied with my 8MP ~ 8x12 printouts, any higher is a bit overkill ;p Think we will see a slowdown in the DSLRs sales very soon.
APS-H size sensor is what the 1.3x crop factor 1DII series is using. Its in between that of the APS-C (1.6x crop) and full frame.(1.0x)nightpiper said:is the APS-H size slightly bigger than APS-C? so the 1Dv is a replacement for 1D mkII?
fWord said:. By then, we'd be looking at something around 12-15MP at the same entry-DSLR price level.
Hahah, that is why I downgraded to a 4mp. :bsmilie:fWord said:Tiring, yes.
But the megapixel race will never end. The progress of technology is alarming. Reading a book published years ago, it would be common to see authors state that 3MP is already enough to produce a high quality A4 print.
Yet, people nowadays might feel more inclined to believe that you'd need anything around 20MP to get decent quality in the same size print. :dunno: To be honest, I am baffled as well as amused.
For most of us who aren't too inclined at pixel-peeping, 6-8MP might seem enough, but that's just for the time being. I think it would be no surprise for me to use my current DSLR for another 3 years, and then take a splurge again for a newer DSLR down the track. By then, we'd be looking at something around 12-15MP at the same entry-DSLR price level.
