ok: my aim is to shoot macro shots of fish and fish tanks.

just bought canon eos 300d.

what else would I possibly need,
and best place to find them. (ie: where i don't get price gouged.)
--
off hand;
in order of priority
cf card + cf card reader?
dry box
tripod
camera grip?
filters? (polariser? uv?)
lens maintenance equipment (such as?)
wireless slave flash system/bounce.
better macro lenses (later of course.)

anything I missed ?

thanks

Just some of my suggestions:
CF card - Sandisk, Transcend, Ridata, Lexus [Alan Photo, EastGear.Com]
CF card reader - any sold in Sim Lim Square (I prefer those made in Taiwan)
Dry box - Box or cabinet? If box, any. If cabinet, try Bossmen [MS Color]
Tripod - Silk Pro400DX, Manfrotto 190DB Pro [Cathay Photo]
Camera grip - Vertical grip you mean? This I not sure what 300D uses.
Filters - UV filter on each lens at least
Lens maintenance - Blower, anti-static cloth, lens tissue, lens pen
Wireless slave flash - Do you really need it?
Macro lens - Canon EF 100mm f2.8 Macro USM, Sigma 50mm f2.8 Macro [Cathay Photo, Alan Photo, The Camera Workshop]

words in square brackets are suggested places to get them

depending on what size of fish u going to shoot
i got very satisfying results from my 50mm and 85mm lens shooting fish lenght about 8cm onwards.

a dedicated marco lens is not neccesary although good to have. If u are really interested in shooting fishes, then get a off camera hotshoe and mount your flash above the tank or afew flashes at various position. The vertical grip is not a must.

unless u are shooting the fish out of the fish tank...if not no point to use macro lens...u can't go very near to the fish anyway

may be PL more useful in cutting down reflection of the glass

zoom lens izit then?

enjoy.. I hope to be doing that someday too. heh

I just got my macro lense from CP last week for below 1K. Don't think you can get it at this price now coz their pricelist has been updated.

The macro 100mm f2.8 AP is selling around 1020, CP around 1020-1050.
almost 60 bucks increase for no reason :( Generally prices of lenses have increased everywhere.
