My tip ...
Do lots of reading up on basic photography, and your camera.
Look at various pictures posted here in various photo storage websites like flickr.com, photobucket,com, etc.
Join outings organised by members here.
Don't be afraid to ask questions, but don't ask silly questions before doing any research or you'll look like an A55! (no puns intended to Sony's A55 and their owners!)
Also, read up the advice given by seniors to other members in all the postings prior to your posting.
And last but not least, welcome to the club!
