newbie need help, on wide angle converters !

hi ! was planning to buy a 10-20mm wide angel lens but it is kinda expensive. will a wide angle converter do its job ??

since its so much cheaper what are the perks and downs of a wide angle converter ?

thirdly whats the difference between a 0.25x and a 0.45x ?? am i right to say a 0.45x has a larger field of vision ??

Please search here for Vitacon and read about this crap stuffs. In short: it degrades the pictures (distortions, Chromatic Aberrations and other funky effects) and many shops use it to con the buyers with overpriced offerings. There is a reason why a real wide angle lens has this price tag and the value of such converters is less than $50 ... If you really want to get one, check Buy & Sell. Numerous people got conned into buying this nonsense and now they try to sell it away.
