Hi, I'm a complete newbie and armed with my canon 300D , i wanna start taking pics of my marine tank....
The problem is i dunno how to start, what i need, wat lens to use, wat speed, aperture etc....
I hv tried shooting at nite at 1/30 @ f5.6 without flash (dunno wat ISO speed) relying on the aquarium lightings and pics are not as good as some of the pics posted here.

They are only so-so but cud be better & sharper.....

Tips appreciated...

F2 or faster glass? Aquariums are normally low light and flash is not effective or allowed in some places. Try shooting at ISO800 or even ISO1600 (can handle noise during post-processing). A cheap but excellent lens to start off would be the 50/1.8 in my opinion.
