Need help with DVD player

I just bought a DVD player with karaoke function. It's connected directly to my TV as there's something wrong with my amplifiers. When I plug in the mic to sing, I can hardly hear myself via the TV speakers, although the mic volume has been turned up to the max. I did not have this problem with my old VCD player. Audio coming out from the TV speakers sound alright.

Any advice? :cry:

I've one that does not work when in digital AC3 mode. Have to switch it off to use the mic. I think it's better to refer to your manual for instructions on it.
