Was asked about a family P&S camera by a friend. Found a few at dpreview but then when I called AP or MS Colour, the models are discontinued. Hope those who have just bought 1 can recommend. Budget is important (<$600)

Needs
Price : < $600
Size : Compact (not ultracompact)
Wide angle : At least 35mm or wider (film equi)
Zoom : > 4 times
MP : 3 and above
LCD : 1.8" and above

Wish List (not a must but good to have - if its possible !)
Hotshoe for ext flash
28mm wide angle
AA batteries
Manual Focus, Manual Exposure

Thanks in advance

Got this 2 recommendations :

Canon A520
Panasonic LC2

Which would you pick ?
Any other models you would chose over these (for <$600)

Dun think you can get < $600 camera with
- Hotshoe for ext flash
- 28mm wide angle
unless 2nd hand camera.

Manual Focus for digital camera is not useful and most of them do not come with manual focus ring. It uses 2 buttons (left and right) to control the manual focus.

I recommend Canon A520 which is < $600 camera with AA batteries & Manual Exposure.

Sony having promotion for the W5. $599 with 256 MS free. Seems reasonable and within budget.

Any comments compared to the Canon A95 ? (I *think* the A95 also <$600. Please correct if wrong)

gez, y not consider Panasonic LZ-1 at 4MP, 6x optical zoom w/ image stabilizer (IS)?

i think it'z under $600...

my sis got d FZ-20 & d IS works wonderfully! ;)

mayb they'll do a SLR KM's style, but betta?....
wish...
wish...
