Hello Guys,

The annual fire works begins and is a hot time for Club Snappers.
The LF guys are busy chatting on Whatsapp, so you don't see much here now.

Time: Saturday 14th July onwards, recurring every Saturday
Location: Waterfront-Esplanade area. Suggest to walk up to Benjamin Shears bridge

Equipment: Film/Digital anyformat with a wide/ medium tele

35mm film -> 70-210mm zoom, 28-70mm zoom
6X6 MF film -> 45-65mm wide, 150mm long
Large format -> a medium 135mm lens or the 90mm lens recommended

Shooting B&W or Color slides.
Setting --> F8 or F11 at 2 or 3 seconds.

You will have no time to compose. The Singapore fireworks is stingy and may last only a short while.

Meeting place to be announced. Meet early about 4pm, secure strategic position.

Since we are going early secure strategic position, a good place will be along esplanade on the left of the Outdoor Theater (if you face the sea) as we can shoot both the air and sea displays.

Warning! The Apache will splash up a lot of water from the sea. Bring umbrella or Poncho.

Tips for Watching National Day Fireworks 2012

Don't miss the fireworks for Singapore NDP 2012! The fireworks will be launched from around the Float @ Marina Bay:

So practically any waterfront location at Marina Bay will be a good spot to watch the fireworks for NDP 2012.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
In the event of bad weather (or for health safety and other pertinent reasons), the NE Shows and Parades may be delayed, cut short or postponed according to the judgement of the organising committee. If this happens, the fireworks will be similarly affected.


How many fireworks displays are there?

Fireworks will be launched at the Preview Parade (30 July 2011) and National Day Parade (9 Aug 2011).

Fireworks will also be set off during the NE Shows (9, 16 & 23 July). But these are likely to be shorter, scaled-down bursts.

I photo-shot the fireworks during all 3 NE Shows and the Preview in 2008. And they were as good as the actual day's fireworks.

What's the fireworks schedule like for Singapore National Day 2011 (and all the rehearsals)?

Expect the fireworks to be launched near the end of the Show Segment, probably around 7.30pm - 8pm. Obviously, you'll need to turn up earlier to find yourself some space.

Go down to Marina Bay again for the Singapore Fireworks Celebrations. Each evening, the fireworks usually go on for 15 minutes.

1. Explomo Technical Services Pte Ltd will be doing the fireworks preparations for National Day Parade 2012 from 1 Jun 2012 near an area off Ducktours splash point.

2. From 8 Jun 2012 to 9 August 2012, a floating pontoon and anchors will be laid in Marina Bay as shown in the map here. The anchor positions for the floating pontoon will be marked by red marker buoys (with flags), with flashing red lights (flashing once every 5 secs).

3. The safety radius of 200m radius from the floating pontoon will be demarcated using line of floats. Red marker buoys (with flags) and no-entry buoys with flashing red lights will also be used to demarcate the cordon area.

High level fireworks floating pontoon – 1°17'8.65"N, 103°51'22.34"E

4. When entering and leaving the Marina Bay, vessels are to keep clear of the floating pontoon and the no-entry buoys by skirting the perimeter of the Bay as indicated in the map here. Line of floats, red colour buoys and no-entry signs with flashing red lights mark the borders indicating the NO ENTRY ZONE.

RESTRICTED TIMING

5. Below are the timings fireworks will be loaded onboard the floating pontoon. All vessels are advised not to trespass into the no-entry zone. Safety boats will be present to enforce the 200m safety radius.

REMOVAL

10. The floating pontoon/floats/buoys/anchors and all other structures will be removed from 10 Aug 2012 to 15 Aug 2012. The floating pontoon will be towed from Marina Bay to an area off Ducktours splash point for tear down.

11. All vessels are to give a wide berth to the towing operation.
