NASA's neutral filter


Isn't it just ND filters for long exposures? Don't see how the "normally used by NASA for analyzing stars" part makes sense. Otherwise, multiple exposures follow by stack and median filter can also do the trick if the crowd is not extremely dense.

I think they just said that to sound cool. When I look at the pictures, it's just an ND filter and the Photoshop auto-stack feature. Then they maybe masked out 1 person in a shot here or there.
 

one can also use the camera "normally used by NASA" to take the photos, the D3X, while drinking the orange flavoured drink favoured by NASA, Tang, as refreshment... :bsmilie:
