Hi pple,

How do I improve my moon shots in the afternoon ? I have taken this at 315pm and I like any comments on taking moonshots. Thx

Rule no 1 is:Take moon shots at night. Wait for for moon to rise just above the horizon.
 

Hi bobbytan,

For taking moon shots in the afternoon, a polarizer should help by giving you more control over the contrast.

We are all used to seeing moon shots taken with black sky as background so a day shot can be interesting.

If you are trying to capture more surface details then you need a more powerful lens, ie, a telescope. Cropping from a shot taken with 300mm or less focal length ususally does not give you enough details. Furthermore, at such magnification it is very difficult to get good focus.

Your photo posted here is neither here nor there. The moon is the main subject but it is not in perfect focus.
