Hi people. need some help.
I understand that Minolta Dimage cameras such as 7i, A2, A200 can only take Minolta flash unless I use a Minolta FS-1100 hotshoe adapter is it?

Is it that the FS-1100 converts the 4-pin Minolta mount to a 1-centre pin ISO mount?

Is that with a hotshoe adapter like this

can allow me to use generic flashes with the universal 1 centre pin contact?

My camera flash is spoilt so I'm looking to get a cheap external flash

I don't use minolta but it looks like an adapter to fit normal ISO-518 flash onto the Minolta shoe. However, dedicated functions like camera data and TTL will no longer be available.

You can use Sigma flash. They do produce flash for Minolta/Sony cameras. Anyway the original Minolta/Sony seems to be slightly cheaper than some brands too.

Got another question, by using the fs1100 or a 3rd party adapter with a generic flash, will the rear sync flash, or adi flash still work?
Must I use dedicated flash for Minoltas in order for these flash functions to work?

No.. the standard ISO-518 will not be able to perform all the dedicated functions. Better to get an original or compatible flash if you are going to use these functions.
