hi, I know this sound weired...

Can I assume that between a 28-85mm and 28-100mm lens. The differences is minimum since only 15mm more?

I did a search on google, lot of them are base on prime lens. Some say no differences and some say 100mm is better for portrait???

Well, for primes, I'd agree that there aren't much differences. But with a zoom as a upper limit, there may be some.

Generally, with most zooms, most would agree that a 3 x of the original factor would be the best, as such you can see most of the better zoom lenses are about there

17-35
28-70
70-200, etc... (at least these are for Nikon range)

So the more the zoom factor comes up to a higher level, it's generally known that there are certain quality aspects which may be compromised.

But this is a guide, go try it out yourself, you might not feel the difference on your usage aspect.
