Say a nice moon last night and thought I give it a shot to see how my Nikon D50 would treat it.

Shot in RAW but converted to jpeg without any processing. Crop image.
Lens: Nikon 70-300 G
FL at 300mm
ISO 400
Vivid optimization
All other settings at auto/default

Appreciate all comments.

Oops, first impression it looks like the flag of Japan--except it's a white moon on the black background.

If you're looking to try out the technical capabilities of your D50, looks good enough, maybe can apply some USM.

Otherwise the photograph does hold much interest.

Thanks for the comments.

Yup, was just trying it out both for the D50 as well as the 70-300mm zoom lens.

Perhaps u can share with us your workflow on RAW files.

Seems that you're not maximizing the capabilities of RAW images.

I have not actually got a good RAW software. Currently using the Nikon View to view the RAW and convert to jpeg. No post processing done except for cropping.

I'm looking to buy either the Photshop Elements 3 or Nikon Capture which I understand can do RAW processing.
