"This belongs to the city council" Thieves steals sewerage covers and sells them as scrap metal.
To prevent thieves from targeting the city council manhole covers,
a heavy penalty was passed through parliament to deter scrap
collectors from taking in city council properties. Seems to be working well though.
Real wood lasts longer. This house was made in the 1940s, and the panels and window frames were
made from solid wood at that time. Though many years have passed and it has
endured many seasons of snow and sun, rain and shine, the wood still holds its shape.
Of course, proper painting and lacquering did help. But the value of solid wood remains.
