Hi guys,

Need some advice on using the services of domestic helpers (maids) and the maid agency services in Singapore.

1) Any good ones to recommend? (I have visited the offices of Team-Up, Homekeeper and Nation).... all looks relatively 'professional...Anyone has experience with these agencies?

2) What to look out for when conducting a phone interview with the maid?

3) What are some of the tell-tale signs that a maid may not cope with life in Singapore as a maid?

thanks,

urban

yah i am also thinking of getting a maid for my sick father... any tips ad advices? Thank you

Juz booked a maid from N***** one of the largest agency in S'pore. Service was quite good as we went there at 8 pm which is supposed to be their closing time. Choose a maid and left at almost 9.30 pm. Paid $200 deposit. Given one week to look through other maid's biodata and videoclip thru website.

Seems like most of the agencies offer two package:

$480 - use post-dated cheques to pay off maid's loan

or S$288 - where the employer pre-pay maid's loan

Anyone got any comments on the two scheme?

:gbounce:

actually when u r paying less
the employment agencies r either really charging u a low price or scamming u
they ask u to pay up the agreed or packaged amount first
den ask u to pay up the main's loan deduction upfront
+ u might get a transferred maid not nesscersarily a new one.
lotsa hidden charges or unknown truths..
try to make sure the agent at least cover replacements at a minimal price........

juz be sure to get the maid's passport n work permit n all legal documents in hand b4 hopefully handing over any cash...

trust me i know how these agencies work!

:D
