Hi, have anyone tried to use a 100-400mm L Lens on macro photography with the conbination of Raynox DRC-250? i think it would be excellent at 400mm on the magnification but need the stepping ring from 77mm - 67mm thou.

Any advise will be appreciated. thank you. ;)

You can consider Canon 500D close-up 77mm close-up filter though. :)

thanks for yr kind advise... :)

You will acheive beautiful bokeh and good magnification on the 400mm end but you lose on light and f/stops. Not to mention that the weight of the 100-400L is another turn off if you want to do true macro setup. I would suggest that you go for extension tubes instead of close up filters for the lens as a 77mm filter will not be cheap.

Nothing beats a dedicated macros lens..
U will be burdened by the longer focal length/heavier weight and close range focusing which might get in the way in ur own lighting unless u gg touse a dedicated macro flash system like MT-24ex
