macro close up shot

i browsed tru flickr on macro closed up shots....stating " Canon 90-300mm f4.5-5.6 with a Canon 50mmf1.8 reversed...."

What is means by dis method? combined of 2 lens? any experts can define this method so that i can have a clearer picture. Thanks so much.

Basically you take a lens and reverse it infront of another lens thats on your cam, usually using an adaptor so that they are joint at their filter threads.
