Note to all prospective photographers or videographers.

This assignment is $30/- per hour.
When a photographer and videographer take a photo or a video, he/she owns the copyright to them.
When given to the client, naturally will grant the client to use them for their advertising and reporting needs, i.e posting online on their social media sites, websites, for printing on marketing purposes. To tell the photographer and videographer that they cannot use the photos and media means selling the rights. In that sense please review if your photos and videos are worth $30/- per hour of service.

A side note, nowadays smartphones can switch between video taking and photo taking with ease, and some higher end models are also water-proof. Maybe it is time to consider have a team of your own volunteer 'photographers' and 'videographers' equipped with smartphones to do the job?

Hi Fidgetspinner,

Thank you for your valuable input on selling the rights of the media. Some parents would be concerned about their child's photo being used elsewhere hence we would need to own the rights.

What other sites will the photos be used? A porno site? Of course it will other than be the photographer / videographer's own portfolio.
Please note that once the photos are published online, even if it is your own webpages it can be used by anyone else. The printscreen button and on-screen recording softwares can easily copy photos and videos you post online. In the modern digital world, don't want your photos to be taken, then stay at home.

If you are serious about the claims and worries of parents your clients, then enforce the rule that no photo and video recording devices are allowed at the event, bag checks, even smartphones. Because anyone at the event, even parents themselves, may take out their phones and start taking videos and photos (with other children appearing , walk by, in the foreground and background, and immediately post them on social media. Why not right? Say no photos and videos shall be taken during the event, other than your own photographer/ videographer team.

So sick of stone age mentality. Want to project a rule but so many loopholes in your claims.
