I was sent by company for a video filming course at PSB (now may be refers as Spring I think) in year 1999. Quite comprehensive.
Can check if they still offer such course nowadays. :think:

I was once a staff from PSB (now SPRING) in the video resource center. we used to have a studio (the course might have conducted in the studio).

Hmm.. 1999 i was still there.. guess u may have been taught on the linear editing at that time.. well, sometimes i did assist in the teaching.

but sad to say that the department has closed down more then a year ago.. so no more such course there now.. i miss my stay there :cry:

The Diploma is Film, Sound and Video,
but the school itself is Ngee Ann Polytechnic School of Film and Media Studies.
The students have to go through an interview before being accepted.

I'm just gonna repeat what the others have already said.

Ngee Ann Polytechnic's Diploma in Film Sound Video and Advanced Diploma in Film Production are the only courses in Singapore that teaches its students film (16mm and 35mm respectively).

However, there are many other courses in all the other polytechnics, universities and private instituitions which teaches audio/video production as well:

Singapore Polytechnic
Nanyang Polytechnic
Temasek Polytechnic
Republic Polytechnic
NTU
School of Audio Engineering
Laselle-SIA
NAFA,

and many other private instituitions/organisations.

Since it's the new year and I'm sure there'll be people who might consider persuing an education in this line, I highly suggest visiting these various instituitions and if possible get a detailed syllabus breakdown to be sure if their offer meet your needs.

I am studying at fsv, Well for a start, be prepared to fork out a lot of money and alot of your life if u wanna try shooting on film. It is however not easy to shoot on film. You have to prove to the lecturers that you are capable first

Can i ask a few question on your course.
what are you major in at the moment?

if i am looking at producing and art directing,

what do you think of the course can provide.
Honestly FSV is a very good school for hand on.
In fact it been proven the student graduate from the school
are better technically than other school .

Perhaps I can share a little bit more about FSV lol.

Basically, the course provides theory and hands on learning on the various aspects of filmmaking, from storytelling, production planning, film history to editing, cinematography, audio post, etc While I'm sure the various other courses offers the same modules of study, FSV teaches 16mm film as well which 2nd Year and 3rd Year students will get their hands on.

Many various shooting/practical and theory exercises are done in class and/or during projects.

samvision, if you're looking at solely producing and art directing, I'm afraid that's a highly niche area which FSV doesnt zoom in on. While we are taught the basics and neccessities of Producer-work and Art Department-work through our regular shooting projects, I believe it is not detailed enough if you just want to do that in FSV.

Advanced Diploma in Film Production on the other hand has 4 areas of specialisation which you can choose right from the 1st year of study: Cinematography (16mm/35mm), Editing, Directing and Film Finance (producer-related). So basically, if you just want to focus on 1 aspect of it, then ADFP would be for you.

I feel that Fsv is like a good stepping block as it gives u a taste of filming and producing. Movies are more or less the hardest in terms of producing and it has alittle of everything in terms of things in the media. So yea.

yeah i visited your facility 2 years ago.quite the pity. so whats become of the sound studio now?

the whole place was converted into offices.. :cry: well, outsource mah.. so whole dept gone lor :dunno: but actually i left b4 they closed the dept
