i use p mode , n then learn from each shot y that mode is selected .
i try to use manual whenever possible , n luckily my manual shots have improved. ( based on number of photos i see which i feel good)

For me, I had been used to using manual mode all the time as I am using a Leica M6.
To me, a photographer fail when he can't even understand how to use manual mode. It is fail at the very basic stage whereby failure to understand exposure and etc. If auto-everything, I personally dun feel any pride at all.
This is my personal feeling, dun blash me. However, some may argue, who cares man can take good picture use auto mode and manual mode make no difference.

In fact 'M' mode is fun, especially with Digital camera, no worries of wasting shots and can review it immediately after pressing the shutter.:bsmilie:

go back to the "P" mode like more than half the time

I know my FM2 settings but I'm still trying to figure out my D70s settings...

Just an alert. Film camera settings can be very diff or even the reverse of film settings. In film settings, u have to shoot with as much flash power as possible. So film photographers have to shoot a little bit over but for digital, it is kind of reverse. To see the background, sometimes we may have to shoot as even or we can even say as dark as possible. If u cannot understand the concept, pls pm me and I can email u exactly what I mean

humm, I use 'M' mode on cam and and just learn recently how to use 'M' mode on flash to attain consistant exposure on all my pics. Didn't really trust the camera's metering. :think:


Anyone in the same situation as me?

Never bothered with the metering system. Never accurate unless I shoot outdoors without flash. Whether Flash set to TTL or Manual, it really depends on situation. For me, my personal preference is Manual. Some of my friends TTL is just as gd. However, when come to certain situations, they will shoot using flash in Manual mode. They have reached a stage whether they sort of know when to switch

D70s. The camera is not trash at all. I never relied on the metering for my indoor shots. Never accurate. Outdoor is accurate without mounted flash. If u know your settings well, u dun need the metering actually.

Normally I use the Audio/Video (AV) function.

Sometimes I use the Television mode (TV)

If I am in a race I use Manual (M)

But if I am driving to work I use (Auto)
