Lens Code .... ??

hi ... seeking some advices regards to the lens code ..

Is it true that lens code is only shown in those lenses with the "L" ... i thought since is the code to denote manufacturing site and date, it should be appear in all the camera body and lens ..

I think different manufacturer uses different convention. May start the serial number with different digit(s) if the manufacturing line is transferred elsewhere..

I think TS is refering to Canon lenses. So far, only L lens have this codes

Only on the lens, not on camera bodies.
