legal to take and post accident-class photos?

i shot some pictures of this motorcycle on fire in orchard today... but one of the firemen told me his superior does not want any to be taken, so i walked off.

in the end... is it legal to shoot and post the pics?

i'd think it's a matter of safety precaution on the part of the firemen. they might have a concern that you might wander into off-limit areas.

seriously, if the press were there, they would just go ahead and take pictures, though the boss would be equally likely to ask pictures not to be taken, just in case the photographer gets in the way.

as for whether it's legal or not, the press have been publishing pictures of accidents for years. just be sure you are not a hindrance.

how about "selling" it to the local newspapers? some folks suggested that i *could* do that...
