A message conveying to m43 Olympus users from Olympus Singapore:

Photography enthusiasts constantly seek inspiration from fellow shutterbugs to better their techniques or seek advice, often creating communities of their own. Olympus today launches Olympusphere, the company’s first digital photo community in Singapore which facilitates the interaction between likeminded photography enthusiasts.

Upon registration, Olympusphere creates an entire ecosystem for each Olympus user to take their passion to the next level and get rewarded at the same time. Starting from 22 December 2014, Olympusphere users will be able to exchange information and upload their works, building a network of photographers from all over the world to interact with via olympusphere.com. Members can also look forward to exclusive access to competitions designed to hone one’s photography skills and stand a chance to win Olympus prizes.

“As photographers ourselves, we understand that fellow photographers desire a space where they can freely share their photographs, seek inspiration and advice and interact with likeminded enthusiasts. Through Olympusphere, Olympus users are not only able to do that, but also directly benefit from their interactions,” shared Mr. Jimmy Loh, General Manager, Olympus Imaging Singapore Pte Ltd. Members can kickstart their Olympusphere journey and get a chance to showcase their works in a photography exhibition with Olympushere’s first photo contest, “What Singapore means to you?”. Held in conjunction with the launch of the digital photo community, the contest encourages photographic inspiration among local shutterbugs, both professional and enthusiast alike, and seeks to discover stories of Singapore through the eyes of the people. The top 50 photos with the most likes will be displayed over a period of 6 months in an islandwide exhibition organised by Olympus, in partnership with the National Library Board. Top 10 winners will receive attractive Olympus products. Contest ends 31 January 2015.

Get rewarded on Olympusphere
Almost every activity on the user’s account translates into Olympus points which can be used as a currency within Olympus. The unique platform rewards members with Olympus points when they upload, like and share their photographs with other members. Members earn bonus points when they allow other users to download their photographs for personal use or if their photographs garner the most likes or comments each week (refer to Appendix for Olympusphere Point System). These reward points can be utilised to offset purchases from Olympus online store, repair costs and even workshop fees.

Creating a personal bank of photos
Users can opt to post a single photo or an album (5 - 10 photos) either in the general theme or special themes. The General theme allows users to share photos of any category taken with their Olympus system. Special themes may be based on special occasions, photographic techniques and features of the Olympus system so it makes uploading photos fun and engaging. Special themes allow users to showcase their photos in these special areas to earn additional Olympus points.

Ranking
All photos posted on Olympusphere will be ranked based on most popular, most liked and most commented on a weekly basis. Ranked photos will not only receive additional points, the users will receive recognition through this engagement with other users.

Downloading of Photos
Users have the option of allowing other members to download their photo for personal use. By doing so, users will be awarded 10 points. By tagging your photo under a specified category, other users will be able to search and download your photo. With every download of the photo by other users, an additional 500 points will be awarded. Inspiring likeminded shutterbugs on Olympusphere

I just wished that Olympus can also look into launching app for android/iOS, just like Flickr or instagram.

I've around 11k points too, had earned around 5000 points from Olympusphere alone. Had posted back then like Wonglp said hence not as if we today suddenly 6am went in to pia

It's at 100 points to $1 discount when u buy from Olympus online store subjected to a maximum of 15% of total purchase price but still a very good way to earn discounts :)

I just change my password in the olympusimage.com.sg page, and I can't seem to login to Olympusphere.

Thanks Keith.. I am able to login with their help. Curious.. once you create an album and uploaded photos. Can you add to the album?

.__. I confess I've to try later. When I was using it it was still beta , no albums option aka had to upload one by one.

Also.. cannot move photos between album and delete uploaded photos

Jus tried, once images are uploaded to an album u can't add more photos to the same album. This means any album u make will have a min of 5 to a max of 10 images.

Hence main aim of using album is for the convenience of doing a batch upload.
