Drool over that gorgeous front element which does not accept filters :) hahaha

The image quality is very Sharp too

No doubt but I think my CO is not accepting any request for new purchase for the foreseeable future.

Will probably wait and see; will not rush if there is a pre-order.

sometimes i just felt that my 12-40 is not wide enough to compose the entire scene that i want, but i could take 2-3 shots and stitch it for panorama.

7-14 is good to have but not really necessary for me.

Not all photos (eg: moving objects, long shutter speed, etc) can be stitch easily together to create a panorama.

Very hard to justify paying that much to add it to my m43 setup.

For that asking price, can get a Voigtländer Heliar 15mm III or Sigma 12-24 DG + 2nd hand FF body.

Agree, the pricing is a little out of whack for this one. Unless there's a good deal during pre-order, hard to justify getting one. UWAs are typically more ex, but comparing to the Pana version, I see little benefit from the +1 stop versus paying S$500 more? IMHO though.

Oly SG, if you're listening..

Yeah man, can only afford if Olympus have some pre-order offer ...

Btw, Keithwee, since you have connection with Olympus, can ask them whether:

1) they gonna conduct a VERY special pre-order offer ?

2) when can we buy in S'pore ?

3) how much is the RRP in S'pore ?

:bsmilie::):bsmilie::D

Thanks

Past once pre order pricing,
SG Pre order for 7-14mm wish @$1499 to 1550. Higher than that maybe come with gift.

dun think there's any point in speculating the prices till info released by Oly SG. Realistically speaking if P7-14 is around 1.4K, i can't expect the pricing for this lens to be same/lower.
Just gotten the lens for a spin, how about some test shots review? coming soon guys :)

Cool, can't wait for your review. I do noticed that this lens does flare easily.

Maybe let wonglp share some of the review shots first, let the images speak for themselves.

I don really have any close connection with Oly SG , wong's much closer.

For RRP it will be shared when time is right , very soon :) and realistically speaking, the pricing for the O7-14/2.8 can't be lower than SGD1.4k since the P7-14/4 went for around that price when released and it doesn't have a WR build.

That said one pragmatic question to consider will be will one need the F2.8 as for landscape shots I don think there's many situations where one really needs a large aperture unless really it's low light shots.

Astrophotographers would love this lens F2.8, and not to forget the other lens announced today the fisheye 8mm F1.8 as well. General landscapes F2.8 as you mentioned is less used though. Events , and with m43 DOF, I would think it helps too to use @ F2.8. This lens would work well on a gripped body like EM1 / 5 with grip. Feeling the strain on EM5ii without grip. Both lenses are gorgeous :sweatsm::sweatsm:

you mean P7-14? yes, it does. Oly 7-14 not much chance to test the flare yet. One of the main features of it though is the coating that minimises the ghosting/flare. No sharpening on lightroom, sharpness setting is 0. At F5.6, there's already some nice light burst.

A sneak shot with live composite on EM5, F5.6 (which is one of the sharpest aperture setting), can click the picture and see on flickr as well. Starting the preview on review section (please give me some time on it :)).

Olympus is pleased to announce two new professional wideangle lenses: The M.Zuiko Digital ED 8mm F1.8 PRO, the world’s brightest fisheye lens; and the M.Zuiko Digital ED 7-14mm f2.8 PRO zoom, a professional-grade ultra-wide zoom with a fast constant aperture.

The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 8mm f1.8 PRO lens is the fastest series production fisheye lens in the world with its f1.8
bright aperture. Targeted at photographers with astronomy, underwater, landscape and professional-imaging interests, this special lens captures distinctive ‘fisheye’ perspectives with the viewing angle of a 16mm* lens.

An extraordinarily high level of sophistication has been applied to its optical design, with emphasis on the absolute
minimisation of comatic and chromatic aberrations at large apertures – optical issues that are especially critical in wide field astro-imaging. Its optics comprises of seventeen highperformance lens elements arranged in fifteen groups, to achieve extremely high clarity across the image field up to the periphery of the recorded image. Special lens elements include Olympus’ proprietary Super HR (Super High Refractive)and Super ED (Super Extra-Low Dispersion)glass.

With a remarkable compactness and light weight of just 315g, the new M.Zuiko Digital ED 8mm f1.8 PRO arguably represents ILC optical engineering at the very leading edge.

Key features:
1. 16mm* fisheye
2. World’s fastest F1.8 aperture
3. 17 elements in 15 groups design that fully minimises comatic and chromatic aberrations
4. 3x Super ED, 2x ED, Super HR, HR and ASPH elements
5. ZERO high performance multicoating
6. 2.5 cm min. focus distance
7. Astro, underwater, nature and professional fisheye imaging applications
8. Dust, Freeze and Splashproof

The highly anticipated M.Zuiko Digital ED 7-14mm F2.8 PRO is the ultra-wide lens of the standard ‘professional trio’ of fast Zuiko F2.8 zooms with focal lengths that are most demanded by enthusiasts and professional photographers. This trinity includes the M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm PRO and the M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm PRO lenses that are already available. Their combined focal length range from 14-300mm*.

With a fast F2.8 aperture specification, the new M.Zuiko Digital ED 7-14mm F2.8 PRO zoom has an extremely wide viewing angle of 14-28mm*. It is aimed at the professional and enthusiast, with reportage, sport, landscape, nature and architecture imaging requirements. Its optical design features the highest performance optical materials that include DSA (Dual Super Aspheric), EDA (Extra-Low Dispersion Aspheric) and three Super ED elements, for superb imaging clarity. Distortion is minimal at all zoom settings. High optical quality at wide apertures facilitates handheld photographic freedom when combined with an Olympus camera body that has 5-Axis Image Stabilisation, such as the professional OM-D E-M1 and the E-M5 Mark II.

A light weight of 534g matches the portability of all OM-D system camera bodies. The M.Zuiko Digital ED 7-14mm F2.8 PRO and the M.Zuiko
Digital ED 8mm f1.8 PRO are both environmentally-sealed against dust, water and the freezing cold (to minus ten degrees Celsius) for high operational reliability. Olympus ZERO multicoating (Zuiko Extra-low Reflectance Optical) is applied on all lens surfaces of both lenses to effectively suppress ghosting and flare.
