i quite like the intial one, shows how small the is crab, if closer crop i think try to fill more the the picture if there's more details of the crab is available lor

Maybe you can try not inserting fully into the horseshoe making the camera think that there is no flash attached, then you can sync higher. But shoot on manual only. No TTL.

I tried and it works. dont know if yours can.

hmm...this is new. Got chance, I'll try.

Purposely get a S2 in order to get TTL, now have to shoot manual to achieve wat i want....... :dunno:
