Good evening CSers!

Just got updates for the photowalk. Here's an excerpt from the email:

Saturday actually is going to work for us. I'm staying at the Mandarin Oriental Singapore. Let's plan something for the afternoon, maybe from 12:00 to 3:00? We can start from the hotel...

So you heard it....We'll have the photowalk on Saturday, March 20 starting at 12pm. Meeting point will be at the Mandarin Oriental Singapore (or somewhere close by) and proceed to from there.

He needs help building the itinerary as he is unfamiliar with Singapore so he asks for your input deciding where to go to get the most out of the photowalk. I have some ideas but feel free to add your suggestions here and we'll put to a vote see what route and landmarks to visit. Here are some of my thoughts:

1. Esplanade Theaters by the Bay
2. Singapore Flyer
3. Bugis Market
4. Little India
5. Clarke Quay
6. Orchard Road

and so on......

The route is a little cliche' I know....so go ahead and put down your inputs. It'll be great if we can show Joseph some of the not-so-well-known parts but great locations of Singapore and photograph them as we go along. We'll try to keep them close together so that traveling will not eat up the the time necessary for the photowalk.

He's starting from his hotel and it's only for 3 hours.. It seems the practical route would be simply along orchard road.. maybe towards Ion and then up towards Botanical Gdn? But I doubt there's time for the gardens... Does the 3 hours include time for him to return to the hotel too?

Good question. It's definitely a very short time frame to work with. Will shoot him an email and ask if he will be flexible with the time. We'll see if we can make it longer to accommodate more places.

Hi everyone, Joseph Linaschke, aka "The ApertureExpert" here. Sorry it's taken me so long to show up here myself, but frankly our man "gatus" has done a phenomenal job!

First of all, I'm blown away by the response to my visit. I thank you all sincerely and do hope I get to meet every last one of you! I know there's some concern about the timing of the photowalk on Saturday; I wish I could go later but I do have a welcome reception to go to that evening for the event I'm traveling to Singapore for, and since I only arrive at midnight the night before, I don't think that scheduling anything too early in the morning is going to be a good idea. Hopefully we can make it work and still have some fun though!

There was some mention here as well that I'd like to run a paid workshop for anyone wanting to learn more about Aperture 3 while I'm there. Details of what I'm proposing have been posted here and I'm hoping to get something scheduled by the middle of this week.

I know it's not mentioned there, but if there's more interest in a small-flash lighting seminar, I'm happy to run that as well!

Been too busy these last few days at work. It's seems that Joseph has already joined by adding to the posts. :thumbsup: Looks like it's going to be a swell walk! Thanks for the updates, Joe!

Anyhow as previously stated, details of the photowalk will be as follows:

date: Saturday, 25 March 2010
time: 12pm
meeting place: Mandarin Oriental
itinerary: to be finalized

Due to Joseph's schedule, I suggest we make the most of the walk by continuing even after Joseph has left for his seminar. With that being said, I haven't seen any other suggestions regarding the places you would like the walk to take place. If you prefer, I would be posting a standard itinerary for the walk tomorrow so we'll have it fixed and agreed upon before Joseph arrives.

Also, for those interested in signing up for the Aperture seminars he'll be conducting, put down your name in the thread Interest Check: Aperture Seminar by Joseph Linaschke (22 March 2010) (click on the link). We'll be posting specifics about the seminar once details are confirmed.

I'll post a confirmation note on Monday, 15 March for the benefit of those who have already jotted down their names for the photowalk and lock the thread by Wednesday (17 March). So for those who still would like to join in, you can pen down your names here til that date.
