Hi all

I understand that I will produce grainier pictures if I shoot them using high ISO on a high Mega pixel DSLR. I am interested to know if by ramping down the Mega pixel on the DSLR using high ISO will actually produce less grainy pictures. ie if I have a 15.1mp DLSR, I set it to shoot at 10mp with ISO 1600. Will the pictures shot with 10mp ISO 1600 be less grainy than the pictures shot at 15.1mp ISO1600?

Thanks

Why don't you try it out with a simple test and let us know the result instead of asking for the answer here?

currently the 50D does not have a 10mp sraw format. there isnt a 35mm system in the mkt now that does a hardware downrezzing. canon is doing it by demosaicing. the pic will appear less noisy but u capture lesser details as well.

Camera: Prosumer

ISO: 1,600

Shutter speed: 1/30 sec

Aperture: F6.3

Picture 1: ISO 1,600; 9MP

Picture 2: ISO 1,600; 3MP

Hope this is what TS want to know.

Can only do it with a prosumer because I do not have a DSLR.

I hope I'm doing it right.
